It's Back-to-School Season at TambraPlace AND Get-Ready-For-A-Gala Season, as well!

ree

Among TambraPlace’s young residents, we have one youth in college in South Carolina, playing football and studying kinesiology. Four of our residents recently graduated from Moore County high schools, three of whom are now attending college at Sandhills Community College, and one is exploring online classes.

News

TambraPlace, Moore County’s transitional home for young women and young men, recently received a $284,000 zero-percent loan from the NC Housing Finance Agency to begin construction of a new home for young women in our community who have aged out of foster care who would otherwise be homeless. Over the past seven years, TambraPlace has directly served over twenty youth, providing them with free room and board, much-needed community assistance, and support through inter-agency vocational rehabilitation, mentoring, financial assistance, and other services. Over the past two years, TambraPlace has also served 45 other community youth with support services.

TambraPlace currently operates two youth transitional homes, one for young men and another for young women, and needs community support to build the new home for young women on our West End property. Link here for coverage of this from The Pilot. The new build will replace our existing, older facility, our young women’s home, and we will convert the old home to our Crisis Center, which will have offices for the organization’s work, as well as two rooms to provide emergency, short-term, stays.

TambraPlace could not operate without the generous sponsorships and donations of area corporations, businesses, places of worship, and private donors, and our organization is profoundly grateful to everyone who has contributed both time, money, and goods over the years.

TambraPlace is excited to announce its premiere fundraising gala event: 1925 Gala – The Jazz Speakeasy Event, which will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 6:00-9:30 pm onboard the parked Aberdeen Carolina & Western Event Train, located near the Pinehurst clubhouse off of Beulah Hill Rd before Morganton Rd.

Leaning into the interior train’s ambiance which celebrates all things art deco and 1920s vintage, the night will be a trip back in time 100 years. The evening will celebrate with live jazz music, ladies and gentlemen’s flapper-era costume contest (“Flappers & Sheiks,”) silent auction featuring high quality goods and travel experiences, a wine pull, door prizes, storytelling, games, fun, and fellowship. There will be heavy hors d’oeuvres, drink tickets, a cash bar of wines and beers, as well as complimentary soft drinks – all for an incredibly good cause.

What is TambraPlace?

Objectives:

The TambraPlace Young Women's and Young Men’s Transitional Homes of Moore County, NC, is a residential program that supports and meets the needs of Young Women and Young Men, ages 18-24. We provide a safe, nurturing and empowering environment to serve youth who are:

·       At-Risk For Failing Without Intervention

·       Facing Homelessness

·       Transitioning From Child Welfare Services

·       Potential Abuse Victims

Goals:

The goal of the TambraPlace program is to help prevent a lifetime of dependence on the state with a cost-effective, short-term investment in independent living which challenges participants to grow emotionally, spiritually, socially and financially in ways they often have not considered. Our overarching service strategy is to provide educational support and therapeutic services in a home setting while providing an environment that fosters social skills and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) in order to be successful.

TambraPlace serves young women and young men with currently two homes and a third on the way, working to cure the recidivism of homelessness by helping youth who have aged out of foster care.

How You Can Make a Difference:

  • Make a Financial Donation: Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant impact. Your generosity helps us provide essential support quickly and efficiently. Donate here.

  • Share Our Mission: Help us spread the word about the importance of this fund. The more people who know about our cause, the more support we can gather.

  • Serve on our Board: We need new folks willing to help take on the responsibility of directing and serving TambraPlace. Specifically, we could use help in the areas of law, policy, fundraising, and building planning. We are building a new girls’ home in 2025-2026. It’s an exciting time at TambraPlace, and we need more committed area volunteers to make it happen. If you are interested in serving, please contact us here: ywthmoore@gmail.com.
