The holiday season is upon us at TambraPlace and we have so much to be thankful for. We have received a little over $15,000 in faith-based donations and grants within the past two months, providing much-needed aid for our transitional homes and supporting services.
Our special thanks go to The Village Chapel, the Jim Schneider Memorial, Brownson Presbyterian, Pinehurst United Methodist Church, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, and Redeemer Church of Southern Pines.
What is TambraPlace?
Objectives:
The TambraPlace Young Women's and Young Men’s Transitional Homes of Moore County, NC, is a residential program that supports and meets the needs of Young Women and Young Men, ages 18-24. We provide a safe, nurturing and empowering environment to serve youth who are:
· At-Risk For Failing Without Intervention
· Facing Homelessness
· Transitioning From Child Welfare Services
· Potential Abuse Victims
Goals:
The goal of the TambraPlace program is to help prevent a lifetime of dependence on the state with a cost-effective, short-term investment in independent living which challenges participants to grow emotionally, spiritually, socially and financially in ways they often have not considered. Our overarching service strategy is to provide educational support and therapeutic services in a home setting while providing an environment that fosters social skills and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) in order to be successful.
TambraPlace serves young women and young men with currently two homes and a third on the way, working to cure the recidivism of homelessness by helping youth who have aged out of foster care.
News
Babe Bash 2024, “A Bridgerton Affair,” was held on September 6 at Village Pine Venue, hosted by Marie & Marcele Boutique, and featured local vendors for an incredible evening of shopping and fellowship. The event raised $13,300 for TambraPlace and an incredible time was had by all.
TambraPlace recently celebrated the dedication of the Jim Schneider Therapeutic Recreational Area at Stone House. Jim Schneider was a shining beacon and true caregiver of God’s children. He co-founded TambraPlace, fundraised tirelessly for our girls’ and boys’ homes, and was a graduation angel – making sure every one of our graduates received a $500 gift card. Jim was a community mobilizer in assisting unhoused families and families in need, and spearheaded community initiatives to assist students in need.
Jim served as president for the Interfaith Operational Committee, served in prison ministry, was a big Buckeyes fan, and a loving husband and friend. This Therapeutic Recreational Area was Jim’s vision, so we have dedicated it in memory of his humble spirit, advocacy, and friendship. May his memory be a blessing.
Did you know? TambraPlace’s residents and staff receive ongoing continuing education and training in the areas of values, goals, financial planning, and basic skills.
Needs
Adopt-a-youth: We have five of our youth who still need “adopting” for the holiday season. If you are interested in helping to purchase Christmas gifts for any of our residents, please contact us directly so that we can let you know what they need. You can take on the full donation list or split/share it with others, as you are able. All lists are under $250 per resident. Email ywthmoore@gmail.com for details.
Donate to the TambraPlace Foundations Direct Payment Assistance Fund: This fund is crucial in providing immediate financial support to those in urgent need within our community.
How You Can Make a Difference:
Make a Financial Donation: Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant impact. Your generosity helps us provide essential support quickly and efficiently. Donate here.
Share Our Mission: Help us spread the word about the importance of this fund. The more people who know about our cause, the more support we can gather.
Giving Tuesday: December 3 is “Giving Tuesday,” and you can help out TambraPlace by donating and/or purchasing from our Amazon wish list. Our Amazon wish list consists of books we'd love to stock in our new therapeutic book library. These books will be resources for staff, volunteers, and residents during continuing education sessions, book clubs, and journaling.
Serve on our Board: We need new folks willing to help take on the responsibility of directing and serving TambraPlace. Specifically, we could use help in the areas of law, policy, fundraising, and building planning. We are moving ahead with our plans of building a new girls’ home this spring. It’s an exciting time at TambraPlace, and we need more committed area volunteers to make it happen. If you are interested in serving, please contact us here: ywthmoore@gmail.com
Happy Holidays from all of us to all of you!
Above all, Happy Holidays from all of us at TambraPlace. May you be filled with peace and hope. Thank you for your support of our homes for youth in transition. We couldn’t do it without all of you.
