Happy Holidays (again) from TambraPlace
A warm and heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers, donors, and benefactors of TambraPlace. The community support of TambraPlace this year has helped our youth plant roots and grow. It’s a joy when a youth texts or tells me, “Hey I’m on my way home now!” Not I’m on my way to the shelter, not I’ll be at the placement soon. Rather, I will be home!
TambraPlace is an innovative researched-based effort that fosters a social learning environment that the youth control, all while learning life skills and setting and achieving goals in a home environment.
In this year-end letter, you will learn about some of the successes, and how interfaith volunteers support our mission. Without community support our youth would not flourish.Thank you to our strong, compassionate, giving village. Your love, support, and faith helps us do the work needed to guide youth to a brighter future. This mission will be a blueprint to provide havens for youth across neighboring rural counties.

Resident Progress

We are excited and proud to announce that one of our youth recently graduated from a Sandhills Certificate program which will allow the youth to work in a professional position and continue studies in nursing at SCC.
We have another youth that is attending a college in South Carolina; our agency supports him financially by supporting his rent so he can focus on his studies and work part-time.This youth has decided to study for his B.A education and sports. His goal is to be a teacher and coach!

Three of our youth also graduated high school! This milestone assisted them with the self confidence to explore higher education through certificate and job training programs, as well as setting personal goals that helped them with their social emotional health. “If you believe, you can achieve!”
Three of our youth also obtained their drivers licenses, and TambraPlace supported them by assisting with taxes, tags, and insurance for 60 days. Residents have to save a portion of the cost to purchase their cars, and TambraPlace assists with low, interest-free loans that the youth pay back at $100.00 per month for 1 year. The average loan per youth is $2,000. Moore County is a rural area with no public transportation. It is critical for youth to have their own transportation to assist with completing goals and becoming independent. Thank you to donors that have donated vehicles or funds to support our transportation budget.

We will have another youth exiting our program in late January. This young man is gainfully employed in a public safety position and looking forward to getting his first apartment. TambraPlace will assist with deposits, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and kitchen supplies to get this youth started. “Life is good.”
Our board would like to thank the Interfaith community, small businesses, and private donors that trust us to do the work to provide a haven for resilient, unaccompanied ,homeless youth.
Our agency started off the year planting a grove of trees with the assistance of Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc, OOO Sandhills Chapter.

We would not sustain our operations without the generous support from our interfaith missionary partners which include: Brownson Presbyterian, Community Presbyterian, Southern Pines Epispocal, Pinehurst United Methodist, West End Methodist, and The Village Chapel, along with other churches and businesses that have given their time, donations, and support. We also are thankful to our benefactors that are anonymous donors that have given to our mission with unwavering dedication and support. You know who you are. You are our angels here on earth!

Our interfaith community is the foundation of our agency. We recognize the faith the community has in us and the leap of faith our youth take to trust us to help them grow. “Trust and faith is what we thrive on!”

The volunteers that have helped maintain our grounds from building shelving to storing non-pershible items and supplies, to assisting with providing guidance to youth that are life-long lessons. “It is a blessing to receive when in need; it is empathy to return others in need because you understand.”

Our Goals:
The goal of the TambraPlace program is to help prevent a lifetime of dependence on the state with a cost-effective, short-term investment in independent living which challenges participants to grow emotionally, spiritually, socially and financially in ways they often have not considered.
TambraPlace serves young women and young men with currently two homes and a third on the way, working to cure the recidivism of homelessness by helping unaccompanied homeless youth and youth who have aged out of foster care.
1925 Gala!

Finally, TambraPlace ended its year with its First Annual Board Gala. This gala raised much needed funds to build a 3rd home in the West End area. The home will be named after our Co-Founder and Vice President Christina Ganis, Psy.D. ChristinaHaven hopes to open its doors and provide a state of the art haven for young women age 18-24 by Summer of 2026.
“We need support to raise more $, to raise another roof!”
